This is the complete final with both the cleaned up scene and all of the roughs I've done this semester.

Thought process in motion rough

For this assignment, we had to make a rough scene where a character has a change in thought during an action. I decided to have the devil showing off the offer of limitless sandwiches and the girl going along with it all until the devil gets really close and she realizes what a mistake she almost made.

This is one of the longer scenes and is also the scene I cleaned up for my Animation 3 final.

Who They Are Now (10/17/13)

For a drawing exercise in Animation 3, we looked at vintage photos from the 30's. Several people would then say something about that person and we would have to draw them in a way to portray their new persona. Each person's persona is written next to them.

Rough Facial Animation Test (10/10/13, 1st pass)

For the beginning of this session, we had to turn in our first passes for our facial animation test. This is that video.

Charlie Chaplin (10/10/13 session)

For this session, we were given some time to work on the 2nd pass for our rough facial animation test after doing some facial gestures of Charlie Chaplin. Here are those gestures:

Planning for Facial Test (10/8/13 session)

For this session, we were given some time to work on our rough animation tests for the next assignment. I used a good portion adjusting my storyboard so I would know what I want to do.

Facial gestures (10/3/13 session)

In this class session, to introduce us to our next assignment, we drew gestures of different facial expressions using a Looney Toons short and the Nightmares Fear Factory flickr. Here are those gestures:

The next assignment is that we take one of our scenes from our master storyboard that includes at least 3 different facial expressions and do a rough animation test for it.

Head Rig animation (9/26/13-10/3/13)

For the last few sessions, we have been working on head rig animations of our characters. This is the start of the head rig for the first part of the process along with the network:

We later had to select an audio file clip from a selection to animate to. I chose an audio clip from 30 Rock about sandwiches. We learned how to start the process of working on lip syncing with the x-sheet and drawing substitutions. This is the preliminary lip sync:

Afterwards, I worked on finalizing the action and the drawings as much as I could by the deadline. Here is that animation:

Life sketches (9/24/13 session)

For this class session, we were told to get out of the classroom and draw people in interesting poses and push the pose. The minimum was 3 pages of life sketches and afterwards, we had to take 3 poses and reinterpret them with our character.

3 pages of life sketches:

Reinterpreted poses:

Adjusted Rough Animation Test (9/26/13 homework)

This is my adjusted rough animation test based on the critiques I received from the rough pass. I extended the transformation sequence as well as adjusted the camera angles. In addition, I changed the final depressed pose to try and make the pose read better.

Hello, my baby! Hello, my devils! (9/19/13 session)

For this class session, we did gestures of 2 different "Looney Toons" shorts ("One Froggy Evening" and "What's Opera, Doc?"). I also adjusted my storyboard to accommodate the suggestions made from the previous session about our rough animation tests.

Driving Mrs. Nesbitt (9/17/13)

In this session, we did a few quick gestures of Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story before critiquing everyone's rough animation test. I received some notes about ways I can push my animation and poses and I sketched down the instructor's suggestions.  The biggest suggestion was pushing the camera angle during the transformation sequence. It is a good suggestion and I am sure it will make my animation better.

Rough Test (9/12/13 session)

This is my rough test for the scene I selected.

Birds of a Feather (9/10/13 session)

In this session, we drew some gestures from "The 3 Caballeros." This was followed by a work session for our rough tests.

Gestures and Feelings (9/5/13 session)

In this class session, we drew some gestures from a Tom and Jerry episode titled "The Guardian." Afterwards, we were given different emotions and we had to draw as many variations as possible of our characters expressing that emotion. This was to introduce us to our homework assignment which was we have to take one scene from our storyboard and do a rough animation test. The catch was that we have to select a scene that includes at least 3 different emotions.

Character Designs- 1st pass

For my short, I worked on several different designs of outfits, hairstyles and eyes. I decided I wanted a character that's more sassy. I tried to portray that attitude in a couple of pose sketches. I also laid out several different color ideas and a height chart based on head sizes.

Warming Up (8/29/13)

These are warm up gestures we did during class. They are from Disney's Symphony Hour.

Storyboard- First Pass

For this storyboard, I went for a simple idea of someone wanting food. I then added an obstacle that there is no food in the fridge. At that point, the devil comes by offering them the most delicious sandwich in the world in exchange for their soul. Being refused, the devil gets angry and leaves. Only then does the main character check her freezer to find a single microwave burrito.
